Swedish massage is said to be the 'classic' massage and is the standard technique most commonly used in spas and massage treatments. It is a whole body therapeutic treatment that works the soft tissues and muscles. It eases muscle tension, improves circulation, flushes out toxins, reduces stress, and has a balancing effect on the nervous system.
The most popular choice for a 30 minute session is a back, neck and shoulders massage.
Alternatively you can opt for any other option: arms, hands, face and head. OR legs and feet. The choice is yours!
A full body is the most popular 60 minute treatment. A full body includes: back, neck, shoulders, legs, feet, arms and hands.
Head and face can be included but please note less time will be spent elsewhere to accommodate this in the time.
As always though it is YOUR choice how your treatment time is spent. Just let your therapist know!
This allows for a truly relaxing whole body treatment.
It can include: back, neck, shoulders, legs, feet, arms, hands, tummy, face and head. If you wish you can opt to have certain areas worked on more, for example not everyone likes a tummy massage so you may opt for longer elsewhere. This longer treatment allows the therapist to spend more time on each body part and to give more attention where needed, such as working out knots or relieving tightness.
A luxurious full body pamper!
Indian head massage has been practiced for thousands of years in India and is part of the ayurvedic healing system. Ayurveda translates as the 'knowledge of life' or 'science of life' and promotes long life through the balancing of the body's energies. Circular massage along marma points (similar to acupressure points) promotes the release of tension and stress from the head, neck, shoulders and face. Variations have been made when bringing the treatment to the western spas but the Indian essence remains.
At ALR Holistics we think of this massage as 'the poet and the warrior' as it is a dynamic massage that involves both slow relaxing strokes and faster energetic movements.
It is a seated massage that may be done with or without oils and either through clothing or skin to skin. It is a great massage for those new to experiencing massage. The most popular treatment involves the client being wrapped in a sarong (like you're at the beach!) and the following areas being worked on: upper back, neck, shoulders, upper arms, head and face. It is a beautiful treatment and don't let the fact it's seated put you off, you'll be sure to feel as relaxed as if you are lying down!
If you wish, this treatment can be adapted to the couch, perfect if you are adding it onto a swedish treatment! This is less traditional and the technique may vary but Indian head massage techniques will still be used.
